Osborne Clarke recruits pensions expert

International law firm Osborne Clarke has hired pensions expert Claire Rankin.

Rankin has joined the law firm’s Bristol office as a partner. She has arrived from Osborne Clarke after nine years with Burges Salmon, following partnership roles at Clarke Willmott and Eversheds.

As a specialist in non-contentious pensions law, Rankin advises employers and trustees of occupational pension schemes.

Having begun professional life as an employment lawyer, Rankin specialises in pension matters with an employment focus, such as scheme change exercises, including consultation and contractual aspects, as well as equality issues and automatic enrolment.

In addition to being a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers, Rankin is southwest chair of the Pensions Management Institute.

Jonathan Hazlett, partner and head of Osborne Clarke’s pensions team, said: “Claire is a fantastic addition to our pensions team—she is a bright and able practitioner who is highly regarded for her technical ability. A capable leader with excellent client relationships, Claire’s arrival will increase the strength of our pensions offering and allow us to continue to build on our already successful practice.”
