SPP elects Paul McGlone as new president

Aon Hewitt partner Paul McGlone has been elected as the new president of the Society of Pension Professionals (SPP).

McGlone’s two-year term at the SPP takes effect from 1 June 2018. He succeeds Hugh Nolan, director at Spence & Partners, who has been president since 1 June 2016.

McGlone (pictured) is an experienced partner at Aon Hewitt, which he joined in 1991 and where he qualified as an actuary in 1994. He has been advising trustees and companies on their pension arrangements for more than 25 years and his clients includes a number of household names.

He offered his sincere thanks to current SPP president Nolan “for his outstanding commitment, hard work, and dedication to the society over the last two years”.

McGlone said: “He has been a great advocate for the organisation at a time where the retirement savings industry has been undergoing immense amount of changes.”

He went on to say: “Over the course of my presidency, I would like to build on the work that Hugh has done and focus on our members firms. The society exists solely for the benefit of our members, and to stay relevant in the industry we need to add value to those members and evolve how we do that.”

“Over the coming years we are planning to focus on new media channels to reach new and existing members, and advance our already busy programme of evening meetings, seminars, dinner and conference we hold throughout the year.”
