The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) has announced Lesley Carline and Stephanie Hawthorne as the winners of this year’s Awards at its Annual Dinner, held at the prestigious Dorchester Hotel in London last night.

Carline, Director at KGC Associates Ltd. was awarded the ‘Contribution to the PMI’ award and Hawthorne, Editor at Pensions World, won the ‘Contribution to the Pensions Industry’ Award.

Commenting, Vince Linnane, Chief Executive of the PMI said: “With the pensions landscape rapidly changing and new challenges at our door, it’s crucial that we recognise the importance of the work that people like Lesley and Stephanie undertake as we look to address the key issues in the industry. Lesley has been a vital part in helping the PMI successfully develop our ongoing educational and qualification work and is a deserving winner of the Contribution to the PMI Award. Equally deserving is Stephanie, who has established herself as a figurehead in the industry thanks to her tireless work and dedication to raising the profile of pensions news and developments.”

Having been an active member of the PMI, Carline has served on the Council, Education, Vocational Qualification and Qualifications Development Committees, as well as chairing the Qualifications, Examination and Assessment Committee. She was also a key member of the team formed to look at the structure for the Advanced Diploma, the results of which have been published. Carline was also instrumental in the creation and development of the Certificate in Pensions Automatic Enrolment qualification. Hawthorne has just completed 25 years as Editor of Pensions World.

An honours law graduate of King’s College, London, she started her financial career as a researcher/marketing specialist for a national independent financial adviser before moving to the likes of Insurance Age, Planned Savings and Financial Times’ Money Management, where she was Deputy Editor. Hawthorne has also been a leading presence for the industry in a range of national newspapers, magazines and on television.
